Another Busy Day

Eduardo's men worked until after 7 PM yesterday & returned early today. John & Ron came to finish the deck framing, build a railing, add a few more blocks for the drywall guys & then build Lynna's wide garage steps. They also re-hung the garage to outside door that was binding up after the siders attempt at door hanging. Lynna continued with her clean up, burning brush and construction debris.
The locksmith came & picked up the bargain locksets we got on e-Bay for re keying. Later this afternoon the Jotul & Vermont Castings stoves were delivered. The store owner had told Lynna they would only deliver them curbside & wouldn't consider placing them into a house under construction(because they weren't hired to do the install), but I got his two workers to bring them in & place them all ready for Eric to hook up tomorrow.

We Have SomeSheet Rock

Eduardo's crew came about 9 AM & began setting up to start hanging the ceiling. They made good progress and later the truck arrived with all the board for the walls. The men were still working at 5:30 this afternoon and they had stowed about half the sheetrock around the house. Lynna & I went to the dump & got rid of some of the debris left by the siding crew. We arranged to have our Gas Heater stoves delivered tomorrow afternoon & Eric from Stayton Heating will try to get them hooked up Friday. We will have heat next week if we need it to dry things out.

Monday and Tuesday were busy days. The sheetrock for our ceilings was delivered & it filled the front of our garage. I worked on completing a few corrections to the bonus room heat piping & moving stuff out of the house so it would be ready for sheetrock. Monday night Lynna & I went to a city council meeting where they were deciding whether to go forward with a street improvement LID that would result in a $150,000 to $170,000 assessment against our property. Many of our neighbors were there and 100% of them opposed the LID. We prevailed & the project has been cancelled. Instead they decided to add a paved shoulder from the hospital down 10th to the city core. Cost will be $9,000 & they have the funds in their maintenance budget.

Tuesday at 6:15 AM, I was in the back yard with Peaches (lab mix dog), when I saw movement in the garage. Two fellows were lugging the sheetrock into the house. They had been working almost an hour and had made a good start on the big stack of drywall.
I had to drive to Salem for a Catscan of my shoulder which hopefully will confirm the Dr's decision for no surgery. Seems there are several fragments broken off, not just one. He thinks everything will knit itself back OK without pins but wants the scan for a better look.
Late Tuesday I was able to put a coat of Danish oil on the front door and I had done the French doors in the family & living rooms on Monday. This should give them them some protection from dirty handprints & make cleanup easier should they get any drywall mud on them.

Gutters

Yesterday Our rain gutter crew showed up. All Hispanic, & I had to spend quite a while confirming all the down spout locations. Just went with the design from our bid & now we have another requirement checked off.

We got a call from Emery & Sons that they now think the fire hydrant cost will be around $10,000. This is almost double what we budgeted based on our discussions last Fall, so Lynna & I met with Stayton's head of Planning to see how we got here. We found the city may share some of the cost, we'll find out in a few days.

Finished Siding

Today the siders finished hanging & cleaned up, they still need to caulk a few places but Freres Lumber was out of caulking. The crew carried all 11 bundles of shingles left by the roofer down & stacked them in the garage. They will come back Friday to wrap our posts & finish the caulking.
John & Ron came to do some framing for the sheetrockers & a pass through for Lynna. We really appreciate this after they already did a hard day of work on their other projects.
We are still having a small leak near the garage to house entry and no one has been able to find the source. Ron will take a look to see if he can find anything.

North Side

Today our siding crew worked on the North side. They are close to finishing now with just The Entryway, wrapping the posts & some caulking remaining.
